Majority of German couples shares bathroom
A study by SCA’s consumer tissue brand Zewa shows that 57.1% of German couples share the bathroom, even if the partner is sitting straight on the toilet.
The respondents were asked if they tolerate their sweetheart to enter the bathroom, while sitting on the toilet. Surprisingly every second pair did not even bother if the partner enters the room for hand washing, teeth brushing, putting on some make-up or taking care of the laundry.
“The survey results show that the new togetherness doesn’t stop at the bathroom or toilet door,” says Marleen Borger, SCA Product Manager for Zewa consumer tissue.
However, there are significant regional differences for how close this new togetherness:
- Pairs in Baden-Wuerttemberg (Southern Germany) are most tolerant with 75% allowing their lover to enter the bathroom.
- In North Rhine-Westphalia (Northern Germany) only 53.7 of the couples tolerate this form of spending time together.
- Bavaria (Southern Germany) is more conservative with only 45.2% allowing the partner to be there when s/he sits on the quietest room.
