Corrugated board toilet turned into UFO
The trainee team of SCA Packaging Austria has won the first price at the trainee competition "Flying corrugated board" at the "Scalaria Air Challenge 2010" in St. Wolfgang, Austria with their extraordinary “Toilet Take-off” UFO.
With the flying loo, SCA’s seven trainees conducting their apprenticeships in Packaging Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering and industrial business administration, had the most remarkable idea, the best construction and the greatest choreography as well as the largest flying distance compared to the other nine competitors.
Toilet turned into a flying kite
The UFO, a simple toilet at first glance, was not really recognised at first by media, guests and participants as it looked like a simple wooden box. But this was the plan! When the loo made its way to the starting ramp, the loo turned into a flying kite and everybody held their breath. With the right music and vibes the loo took off and landed after a few meters in the lake Wolfgang.
The extraordinary flight resulted in the highest scoring of the day as well as 500 € for the team. In the evening the success was celebrated in style and the fabulous weekend will definitely stay in everybody’s memories.
The Austrian TV station ORF2 aired the spectacular flight on July 13, 2010. The TV programme is available here. Just click on „Lehrlingswettbewerb am Wolfgangsee (04:22)“ on the right hand side.
